Welcome!

Welcome to Overlay.TV Labs - our developer website. We launched Labs on 2/17, one year after our original beta of the Overlay.TV tools and player. In addition to information on current projects we are working on internally you will also find frequent updates from customers and developers using Overlay.TV capabilities in technical projects.

The diagram above provides a high level view of how our player, and your apps,
leverage the API and core functions of the Overlay.TV application

Also be sure to check out the API and SDK portions of the site.

And once you are underway please join the conversation in the Forums or on Twitter.

Creating a World of Warcraft In-Game Video Widget using the Overlay.TV SDK - Part 2

In Part 1, we setup the Player SDK, tried out the test player and created a skeleton widget that can be animated on top of a World of Warcraft in-game video. Now we get into the fun part. We're going to query the WoW Armory, initially with a hardcoded player name so that we have some results that can be styled in the ViewPane. At the end of this post, the view should be functional and show some stats for a hardcoded player.

Creating a World of Warcraft In-Game Video Widget using the Overlay.TV Player SDK - Part 1

Online gaming is huge and watching videos of other players to see how they play and to learn their techniques is a pretty standard activity in the gaming world.

Overlay.TV Labs for developers goes live!

Labs showcases the range of possibilities available using Overlay.TV’s platform by posting recent examples of customized projects Overlay.TV has developed. Projects include an iJustine product “endorsement”, a customized karaoke app for Kidz Bop, a World of Warcraft widget, and an XLSuite free website app for bands. Reference implementation will be provided in open source or CC formats and developers are encouraged to use these to spark creativity.
